The community midwives provide antenatal care for patients together with the doctors at antenatal clinics at the surgery. The midwife can help you with all aspects of care during your pregnancy and to care for mother and baby for the first 10 days or longer if necessary after birth care is then transferred to the health visitor.
The secretary can be contacted on 028 6638 2110 or 028 6638 2175 or the on-call midwife 07901688374
District Sisters Pricilla Fawcett and Geraldine Neilis provide community nursing support within the practice, with other members of the community nursing team. They provide skilled nursing care in the patient’s own home and advise carers. Nursing care at home can include care of the terminally ill, disabled, acutely ill and post-operative care. If you thin you, or a member of your family needs a nursing assessment, you can contact the district nurse through your doctor.
The health visitors are nurses with qualifications in nursing and midwifery and who have very special training to give health advice and support on matters relating to family and health. The health visitors are practice attached and visit all families with pre-school children. They work with the doctors in the running of the practice’s baby clinics, visit the non-attendees, carry out screening and developmental tests and promote and participate in the immunisation programme.
You can contact the secretary at 028 6638 2109
