Community Midwives

The community midwives provide antenatal care for patients, together with the doctors, at antenatal clinics at the surgery.

The midwife can help you with all aspects of your pregnancy and cares for the mother and baby for the first ten days or longer, if necessary, after birth. Care is then transferred to the health visitor.

The secretary can be contacted on 028 6638 2110 or 028 6638 2175. The on-call midwife can be reached on 07901688374.

Community Nurses

District Sisters Pricilla Browne and Jonathan Duggan provide community nursing support within the practice alongside other members of the community nursing team. They provide skilled nursing care in the patient’s home and advise their carers. Nursing care at home can include care for the terminally ill, disabled, acutely ill and post-operative care.

If you think you or a family member needs a nursing assessment, you can contact the district nurse through your doctor.

Health Visitors

The health visitors are nurses with qualifications in nursing and midwifery. They have very special training to give health advice and support on matters relating to family and health. The health visitors are practice-attached and visit all families with pre-school children. They work with the doctors to run the practice’s baby clinics, visit the non-attendees, carry out screening and developmental tests and promote and participate in the immunisation programme.

You can contact the secretary at 028 6638 2109.
