Childhood Immunisation Clinics
Immunisation Clinics are held by the Health Visitor weekly for childhood immunisations and child development checks (normally Monday mornings). You will receive an appointment from the Health Authority when your child is due for immunisation. We expect all children to have the recommended vaccines which are medically indicated.
Travel Immunisations
We offer a travel vaccination service but can only administer vaccines that are available free on the NHS e.g. Tetanus, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Cholera, Diphtheria and Polio. For all other vaccinations you must attend a travel vaccination clinic and pay for these privately. These vaccinations include Hepatitis B, Meningococcal, Rabies, Anti-Malaria’s, Japanese Encephalitis and Tick-borne Encephalitis.
Seasonal Vaccinations
Our flu vaccine programme commences each year in October. All patients over the age of 65 years and those most at risk of developing flu have been invited to attend to receive their vaccine.
This year all children aged 2 years of age and over, not yet at primary school will be included in the programme and will be invited to attend by the practice.
All children attending primary school will be offered the vaccine in school.
When you turn 65 or if you have certain medical conditions, you will be offered a pneumonia vaccination. This is normally given only once unless you have specific medical conditions when you may be offered it every 5 years to boost your immunity.
If you are aged 65 or over or are severely immunocompromised you will also be offered a shingles vaccine, if you are eligible you will be invited to attend either by text message or letter.
We offer Covid 19 boosters to older patients and those with immunosuppressing conditions, if you are eligible you will be invited to attend either by text message or letter.
We also offer RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) to patients over 75 as they are at higher risk of becoming very ill or hospitalised if they contract the virus. Pregnant women are also offered the vaccine by their midwives to help protect their unborn child.
